I've had a wild media career that started as a young college student.
I started as an evening news reporter and anchor on WARM radio and moved on to hosting the top-rated adult radio show in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Metro for ten years on WEZX-FM, the mighty Rock 107!
I was very fortunate and spent the next decade as a photojournalist for The Scranton Times-Tribune, a Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper. I was also allowed to repay my love of photography by teaching photojournalism to photo majors at my alma mater. I was even lucky enough to work with some of those students. I can't tell you how amazing it is to go full circle from being a teacher and mentor to a coworker.
As the Internet began to explode in newsrooms, my company appointed me to the position of online editor - the first online editor our organization ever had! I continued to climb internally, leading a new content development team that had just been created, guiding eight daily newspapers and five alternative weeklies to growth in Baltimore, Orlando, Cleveland, Detroit, and San Antonio.
I was promoted again in 2012 to lead my company's Interactive Media division. Our work included building websites and growing audiences, managing digital subscription sales, and providing remarkable customer service. The Interactive team also helped train our newsrooms on best digital practices and how to leverage social media.
As newsrooms began to reduce staff, I became directly involved in editing and producing award-winning online content - like this podcast!
Chances are, if you lived anywhere in Northeastern Pennsylvania or one of the five markets I mentioned above, I was someone who you listened to on a newscast or jammed with on the radio, took your photo, produced the news you read on a website you frequent, or posted something to a social media site you follow.
I've been a part of your news, information, and entertainment journey for the past four decades, and I'm not close to finished. Stay tuned!
